Different concentrations of magnesium sulfate can have different effects
1. Catharsis
Because oral administration is not absorbed, it forms a certain osmotic pressure in the intestine, so as to retain a large amount of water in the intestine, stimulate intestinal peristalsis and defecate.
Dissolve 5 ~ 20g magnesium sulfate in 100 ~ 400ml warm boiled water each time and take it orally in the morning. The concentration is not easy to be too high, 5% is better, otherwise defecation will be delayed.
2. Cholagogic effect
Oral administration of high concentration (33%) magnesium sulfate solution or direct irrigation into the duodenum with a catheter can stimulate the duodenal mucosa, reflexively cause the relaxation of the sphincter of the common bile duct and the contraction of the gallbladder, so as to promote the emptying of the gallbladder and have the effect of benefiting the gallbladder. 2 ~ 5g each time, 3 times a day, before meals or between meals. You can also take 33% solution, 10ml each time.
It should be noted that if you take a large amount of solution with excessive concentration during catharsis, you can absorb a large amount of water from the tissue and cause dehydration. Therefore, it is advisable to take it on an empty stomach in the morning and drink plenty of water to accelerate catharsis and prevent dehydration. This product is forbidden for intestinal bleeding, pregnant women, patients with acute abdomen and menstrual women.
two
Magnesium sulfate injection can be used as anticonvulsant.
It is commonly used in pregnancy hypertension, lowering blood pressure, treating preeclampsia and eclampsia, and also in the treatment of preterm birth.
1. Treat moderate and severe pregnancy induced hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia. The first dose is 2.5 ~ 4G. After being diluted with 20ml of 25% glucose injection, it is slowly injected intravenously within 5 minutes, and then maintained by intravenous drip of 1 ~ 2G per hour. The total amount in 24 hours was 30g, which was monitored according to knee tendon reflex, respiratory times and urine volume.
2. Treatment of premature birth. Similar to the dosage and method of treatment of pregnancy induced hypertension, the first load was 4G; Slowly inject intravenously within 5 minutes after diluting with 20ml of 25% glucose injection, and then inject 60ml of 25% magnesium sulfate injection into 1000ml of 5% glucose injection intravenously at the rate of 2G per hour until 2 hours after the cessation of uterine contraction, and then take oral adrenoceptor agonists to maintain it.
three
Magnesium sulfate for external use: detumescence and inflammation.
Because magnesium sulfate has the pharmacological effects of hypertonic, detumescence and analgesia, it has been used in clinic with satisfactory results.
Use gauze or absorbent cotton to fully soak in 50% magnesium sulfate solution. You can apply hot compress or cold compress. You need to determine the symptoms of the affected area. If it is phlebitis, it is mostly cold compress. If the affected area is hard and does not turn red or when the temperature is low, you should choose hot compress. Generally, according to the condition of the affected area, wet compress once a day to many times, and wet compress for 30 minutes at a time.
